| Datierung/Date: Phoenician, 5th-3rd Century B.C. |
| Material: multi-colored glass |
| Größe/Size: Height Head: 2.5 cm |
| Preis/Price: € 1250 |
| Beschreibung/Description: |
| Shaped like the head of a bearded man. The main body is made of pale brown colored glass, while the face is made of yellow glass. The round earrings are white glass while the ears, nose and mouth are also white. This kind of head was made, by rod-forming, fusing glass onto a core of clay or other substance to make the body and then applying the detailed features in colored glass attached to the surface. This pendant was worn as a protection from evil. The Levant, home to the Phoenicians, and Carthage, a city established by Phoenician immigrants, are thought to have been the central production sites for these head pendants and head beads, and these products were then exported from these centers. This work shows the important role played by the Phoenicians in the production and distribution of glass products. |

These names was at the end of the New Kingdom are very popular. The form of this Shabti is typical for the 21st. Dynasty. The mention of the God of War Month as part of the name of the owner suggests an origin from Theban. A parallel can be found in the Petrie Shabti Museum for Egyptian Archaeology, London (UC inv 39 919, see Petrie, Shabtis, Plate 21 No. 314). and other Shabtis of Djed-Month-iu-ef-ankh (see, for example, UC 39 959; Petrie, Shabtis, Plate 21, 39, No. 354A). Literature Janes, Shabtis, Paris 2002, 138-139 Nr. 72. Glenn Janes leads an Overseer Shabti of Djedmonthiuefanch, with the inscription corresponds exactly to this pieces here. Further shabtis are in Florence (6587, 6604, 6605), at Petrie Museum, London (UC 39957-39959) and at Lyon (978.5.3). Petrie, Shabtis, London 1935, S. 14 Taf. XXI, XXXXVIII, XXXIX Nr. 354, 354A. | Beschreibung/Description: |
| The inscription of the Shabti is unusual because it does not - as usual - with the recitation of words SHD Wsir NN \"Enlighten let the Osiris ... \" and the invocation starts i wSbti \"Oh, you Shabti\" , but but directly in the middle of the chapter 6 of Book of the Dead.
Translation:(i wSbti) ipn ir ip.tw Wsir r ms n [...]-N.t -rwd “Oh this shabti, when the Osiris Hor, born of[...]-Neith-is fixed-allocated (to make it all work...).” Comparable pieces / Origin: Sir William Matthew Flinders Petrie:SHABTIS (BSAE 57), London 1935, Pl. XLIV No. 585 see also Pl. XIII (Hieroglyphs). The shabti at Petries Book is also to find at the Homepage of the Petrie Museums, London, UC 40119: A comparison of the two shabtis shows that they certainly come from the same source or the same owner. Unfortunately it is never mentioned where Petrie has this Shabti. But it is quite plausible that the Shabti was once found by Petrie, later give away from him to someone and so the shabti came into the art trade. |

| The inscription reads as follows: Wsir Hm(.t)-nTr Mwt ... Pth TA-bAk(.t)-a(A)-S(A)-g(A) mAa-xrw \"Tthe Osiris, Priestess of the goddess Mut ... Ptah, Tabaket(en)ascheg, justified.\" The name of the deceased owner of the shabtis can be described as \"The Servant of the Ascheg\" translate. The name of education is well documented and suggests that it is \"Ascheg\" (perhaps \"Ascheq\" to read) to be a deity. The name of the deity is syllabic been written, that is, as follows: Aa-sha-ga . The syllabic spelling Egyptian writers use to foreign Terms and names to write in hieroglyphics. It is therefore, a foreign deity who is part of the name. Its be sure that Tabaketascheg was a priestess of the goddess Mut, the rest is hard to read and can not decipher on the basis of parallels. For a similar name, see, for example, formed tA-nt-bAb-nt (A)-aSq.t (?) on a coffin of the 22nd Dynasty, who is now in Berlin (Inventory 20,132). | This extremely rare pedant shows on the front a chicken. It is believed they have already been domesticated about 8000 years ago in the early cultures of Southeast Asia. This chicken are among the oldest domestic animals in general. The chicken is first mentioned in the annals of Thutmose III. (1480-1447 BC.), here is said \"the birds\' every day to give birth \". This may have acted to the general view just to house chickens. As the annals also indicates that these animals were gifts or tribute from a north-eastern country, so that Syria may have been meant. As in the Near East well, it was also the domestic fowl in Egypt in the middle of the 2.Jt.v.Chr. by no means commonplace and it is assumed that only 525-332 BC finally found the entrance to the rural economy of Egypt. |
